About “SO BRAVE”

Welcome,

This is the story of a little boy's courage, the song he inspired, and the Mom and family who love him.
  The song is SO BRAVE....and the little boy now grown, is an American soldier.

My name is Angela. I am the wife of Jeff "the love of my life" and the proud mother of Jon, the soldier
and his sister Nel, a teacher. I am also.....a songwriter.
Jeff and I raised. our kids in Wisconsin, then moved here to Nashville in 2004.
Our son Jon was still attending college in Wisconsin the day he called to say he was
"feeling compelled to join the service".
  Having taught our children to follow that "voice from the heart" we proudly supported and encouraged him. His wartime enlistment in the Army, and my memories of his lifelong displays of courage, were the inspiration for the song SO BRAVE.
Co-written by Byron House and myself, I recorded and released
in September of 2006.
Those of you who have come upon the song, thank you for the heartwarming emails letters and calls. Response to SO BRAVE has spoken volumes about who in this
country raises the young men and women of courage who are the American military. The relationships that can develop between the mothers of soldiers are rare and beautiful. Over the miles, from shore to shore, state to state, one way or another we find each other. I have found you my sisters by way of a song.

You who are "the beautiful majority" ...inspired what has followed SO BRAVE. The song and full CD SOLDIERS' MOMS (external link to the Youtube video), is a tribute to women who's courage, character, and dignified spirit.....have become an American tradition.   A sisterhood....now, centuries old.

Thank you to those who supported the mission of the song
by purchasing it through various sites, SOLDIERS ANGELS, CDBABY,
ITUNES. All
previous proceeds of sales of the single SO BRAVE, were used for the purpose of providing free copies to soldiers' mothers, fathers, veterans, and the troops.
Additional copies going to the troops, not funded through previous sales,
are provided by our family in honor of our son, our soldier.

God Speed,   Angela—Jon’s Blue Star Mom

Thank you to the thousands of you who have emailed your prayers and well wishes for the safety of Jonathan, his best friend Brandon, and their fellow soldiers.

I REMEMBER WHEN YOU LEARNED TO WALK
I REMEMBER WHEN YOU LEARNED TO TALK
BUT I , CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN , YOU LEARNED TO BE SO BRAVE .
THAT TIME YOU STOOD UP FOR A LITTLE GUY ,
TOOK ON THE BULLY AT SCHOOL , TWICE YOUR SIZE ;
WAS IT THEN , DO I REMEMBER WHEN , YOU LEARNED TO BE SO BRAVE .
IF YOU SHIP OUT IN SEPTEMBER
WILL MY CHRISTMAS WISH BRING YOU HOME BY DECEMBER .
I 'LL BE THINKIN' OF YOU AND I 'LL REMEMBER...

THERE WAS A PUPPY LOVE YOU GAVE A VALENTINE,
A BROKEN HEART THAT WOULDN' T CRY ;
WAS IT THEN , DO I REMEMBER WHEN , YOU LEARNED TO BE SO BRAVE .
WHEN YOU SHIP OUT IN SEPTEMBER ,
I WON' T EVEN KNOW WHERE YOU ' VE GONE .
I 'LL HAVE TO BE SO BRAVE IN DECEMBER
IF MY CHRISTMAS WISH DON' T GET YOU HOME .
YOUR COURAGE CAME SO YOUNG AND TENDER
THINKIN' BACK NOW I REMEMBER...
SO BRAVE ...
THE YEAR YOU MADE THE TEAM AND PRACTICED EVERYDAY .
HURT YOURSELF AND NEVER GOT TO PLAY ;
MAYBE THEN , DO I REMEMBER WHEN , YOU LEARNED TO BE SO BRAVE...
IF YOU SHIP OUT IN SEPTEMBER
WILL MY CHRISTMAS WISH BRING YOU HOME BY DECEMBER .
I ' LL BE THINKIN' OF YOU SON , I ' LL REMEMBER
HOW YOU LEARNED TO BE SO BRAVE .
SO BRAVE …
